Beenish Zia Abbasi is a contemporary Pakistani fine artist and miniaturist whose detailed works explore the concepts of memory, domestic traditions, and the inevitability of change. Born in Hyderabad, Sindh, she earned her bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts with a major in miniature painting from Shaheed Allah Bux Soomro University (SABSU). Abbasi is highly recognized for her ability to merge classical, highly precise gouache-on-wasli miniature techniques with modern, everyday subject matter. By juxtaposing familiar household objects—such as the iconic sweet tin transformed into a sewing kit—she challenges the traditional boundaries of miniature painting, providing a nostalgic yet thought-provoking commentary on cultural habits and the passage of time.
